Shame about Shamir
MACCLESFIELD Town manager John Askey has revealed his frustration after striker Shamir Mullings had his loan deal at the club cancelled - just a few days after he signed.
The forward had joined Macc on loan from League Two side Forest Green Rovers last week on an initial two-month deal.
It ended prematurely though, as a previously undetected injury meant he missed out on Saturday’s 2-0 win at Barrow, and he has now returned to his parent club for assessment.
Askey was disappointed, but he now plans on looking elsewhere to try and improve his Silkmen squad.
“We’ve got to keep looking. We’ve been after a striker in that mode for a while and hopefully we’ll bring someone else in to fill the void that’s now been left,” he told the club’s official website.
“We want to bolster the squad, but they have to be the right player. There’s no point in just bringing a body in – because they have to compliment what we do. All the player’s we’ve got at the moment are all decent and we want to try and continue that.
“We have been talking about trying to get a big centre forward in for a long time now. For two or three years or more we have been looking for someone who can hold a ball up and our main problem has been putting the ball in the net.”
