Blue is the colour for charity run in the City

-

MORE than 1,000 City fans showed their colours at the country’s first all-blue colour run.

The fundraising event saw runners coated head-to-toe in City blue powder as they made their way around the 5k course at the Etihad Stadium and training complex opposite.

It was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the club’s charitable arm City in the Community (CITC).

And the more than 1,200 runners who took part raised more than £40,000 for the charity, which uses football projects to make a difference to disadvantaged groups in the local community.

Former Blues goalkeeper and City in the Community ambassador Alex Williams MBE started the 5km fun run and welcomed in finishers.

Alex Williams, who has been involved with CITC for its entire 30-year history, said: “It’s been fantastic to see so many families around the Etihad Campus. Their support will ensure that City in the Community can continue to enhance the lives of thousands of people across Manchester.”

CITC hopes to help 50,000 Manchester kids get a better start in life.
