Hatters ‘full of confidence’ as club moves into play-offs

-

STOCKPORT County skipper Mark Ross struck his crucial first goal for The Hatters in Saturday’s dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Tamworth at Edgeley Park – before warning that his side are ‘yet to hit their peak’ as the run-in to the play-off race intensifies.

Ross fired home late in the second half to begin County’s comeback, before top goalscorer, Danny Lloyd, notched his 25th goal of the campaign to seal a vital three points for Jim Gannon’s men.

The former Chorley full-back followed up an impressive showing in the goalless draw at league leaders Fylde on Tuesday night with his first competitive strike for The Hatters, before warning County’s play-off rivals that Gannon’s men are heading into their final six games ‘full of confidence’.

“I don’t think we’ve even hit our peak yet, and I think results show that we’ve got the ability to keep moving up the table. We know as a group that we can continue to get better, and hopefully that will stand us in good stead for the run-in to this season,” he said.

Compared to The Hatters’ promotion rivals – who all have to face off against each other before the end of the campaign – County will go on to face four of the bottom seven sides as the push for a play-off berth gathers pace.

County moved into the fifth and final play-off spot on goals scored following their late win.
