Jose boost in Perisic chase

-

INTER Milan boss Luciano Spalletti has given Jose Mourinho a huge transfer boost with his latest comments about Ivan Perisic.

The United manager has earmarked the winger as one of his top transfer targets this summer but a deal has yet to go through as the two clubs failed to come to an agreement on a price.

The Serie A giants have been playing hardball and are refusing to sell for less than £50m.

While the valuation hasn’t changed, Spalletti did give United a boost that should they meet their high price demands, they would be able to secure the 28-year-old. He said: “If his future was totally up to me, I would definitely keep him.

“However, if an offer comes and the club are satisfied with the money, which will be used to invest in and strengthen the team, he could leave.”

The remarks from Spalletti back up what Inter’s technical director Walker Sabatini said last week that the “right offer” has yet to be made.

United had hoped to clinch a deal for Perisic before Inter flew to China for their pre-season tour but the Croat was included in the travelling squad.

Mourinho had admitted he wanted four signings this summer but was willing to settle for three due to the difficult market.
