THE family of a man who died after falling from a bridge have paid tribute to a well known ‘character’ who touched many people’s lives.

Andy Jackson tragically died at the weekend when he fell from the bridge on Queen’s Park Road in Heywood.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called on Saturday night around 10.15pm.

Flowers were left on the bridge – alongside bouquets in memory of a woman who also died after falling from the same bridge just weeks earlier.

Mr Jackson’s family have paid tribute to him and have set up a JustGiving page to help pay for funeral costs.

Lisa Horrocks, his cousin, wrote a touching tribute about him.

She said: “As you all know my cousin Andy Jackson has tragically lost his life.

“I know lots of you were good friends of his and knew him well.

“Others remember him from school, work or just from around the town.

“He was quite a character and I’m sure you will have fond memories of him, as we the family have. I have set up this page so we can all give him the send off he deserves. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.

“All monies will go directly to the family to ease the financial stress at this very sad time. Thank you.”

Tracey Jackson said: “We love you bro, see you soon. Fly with the angels.”

Touching tributes were also left at the scene alongside flowers. One said: “To Jacko, My good pal. Going to miss you. Been friends for a long time. See you around. Love Jack, and my gang.”

Another read: “RIP Jackson. Hope you’re now at peace and partying in the sky. You’re going to be missed by a lot of people. Love Jill and Beki.”
