Flash floods cause chaos
A DELUGE of heavy rain caused flooding and transport chaos in Greater Manchester yesterday morning.
Firefighters were called to six incidents related to the flooding as drains struggled to cope with the sudden heavy downpours. Roads and motorways across the region were covered in standing water, with traffic police issuing a warning to drivers to take care on the roads.
In Bury, fire crews were called to Ferngrove, next to the M66, after a car became submerged in 2ft-deep water at around 8.30am.
