Arsene hints at January exit for City target Alexis
ARSENE Wenger has put City on alert after admitting Arsenal could be ready to sell Alexis Sanchez in January.
The Gunners boss has remained hopeful the Chilean could be convinced to sign a new contract before his current deal expires at the end of the season.
But with Sanchez able to negotiate with foreign clubs from January, Arsenal are now resigned to the prospect of losing their prize asset.
City, who saw a £60m deal collapse on transfer deadline day, had planned to move again for the 28-year-old when he becomes a free agent next summer.
But Pep Guardiola is aware he could miss out on the striker, with some of Europe’s giants such as Paris St Germain ready to register their interest.
City would only be prepared to pay a significantly reduced fee for Sanchez - but Arsenal know this will be their last chance to recoup anything on the player they paid £30m for in 2014.
Asked if he would be willing to cash in on the player midway through the season, Wenger said: “In our situation, we have envisaged every solution. It is possible.”
Arsenal accepted a £60m bid in the final days of the transfer window. But their failure to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar prompted them to abandon the deal.
