Rashford makes his Marc with England
ENGLAND players raved about Marcus Rashford during the international fortnight and are convinced the United youngster will become a superstar.
The 19-year-old started both 1-0 wins over Slovenia and Lithuania and it was his performance in the first World Cup qualifier which is believed to have particularly impressed his international team-mates.
M.E.N. Sport understands the most vocal admirers of Rashford in the England set-up actually play for United’s top-six rivals. One enthused Rashford is ‘so good’ for a teenager and believes he is destined to develop into a marquee player.
Rashford has scored five and assisted four goals already for the Reds this season and started in six of their seven Premier League matches. United manager Jose Mourinho has rotated him evenly with Anthony Martial on the left wing since mid-August and Rashford’s only appearance up front was in the Carabao Cup win over Burton Albion, when he scored twice.
Mourinho was particularly effusive about Rashford’s defensive discipline on the flank during the slender win at Southampton last month.
Boyhood United fan Rashford was spotted by the club aged seven at junior team Fletcher Moss Rangers and rejected approaches from Liverpool and Everton to join their academies.
He made a stirring start to his professional career with braces in his first two games against Midtjylland and Arsenal and has already won three major honours with United.
His Old Trafford contract expires in 2020, but United have the option of an additional year.
