CORRECTIONS AND COMPLAINTS

-

ON Friday, January 12, we reported on the continuing inquest into the death of Shahida Shahid, 18, who died of a severe allergic reaction after eating a chicken burger at Almost Famous restaurant in Manchester. In that story, we reported that a police officer had told the inquest that head chef, Liam Tse, had said it had been a ‘terrible mistake’. We are happy to clarify that in fact the police officer attributed those words to sous chef Mathieu Pierre, not Mr Tse. We are also happy to clarify that the officer could not recall whether he had asked Mr Tse if he had monitored the order. Mr Tse’s evidence is that he only advised the barman who asked about the order that Shahida could have the marinara sauce, not that she could have the burger.
