Man’s death not suspicious after body is found in wood

THE death of a man in a woodland area in Denton is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

There was a huge emergency services response, pictured, following reports of a body in the wooded area, near the Stockport Tameside border, on Sunday night. The fire service, paramedics and police officers were searching the woodland on Stockport Road, at the junction of Ashton Road, late into Sunday evening.

A man’s body was later discovered by officers.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the death is being treated as non-suspicious.

The man’s age and identity has not been revealed at this stage. Around four fire engines, six ambulance vehicles and a number of police vans were seen parked at the side of the road.

Crime scene investigat­ors could be seen and witnesses said the fire service drone was also deployed.

The area, near Hulmes Wood Nature Reserve, is made up of fields and woodland, with the River Tame running through.
