Man faces charge over shop burglary

A MAN has been charged after a burglary at a convenienc­e store.

Reece Mead, 20, of College Bank Way, Rochdale, was arrested on Tuesday, March 6, and has now been charged with a single count of burglary, a spokesman for Lancashire Police said.

He’s due to appear at Burnley Crown Court on April 6.

Police said investigat­ions were continuing. Officers were called at 4.19am on February 27 to reports of a break-in at the Premier Mini-Mart store on Burnley Road East in Waterfoot, Rossendale.

It’s believed three offenders forced entry into the shop, the force said.

A static cash machine was taken off a wall and removed from the store and a large amount of cigarettes and alcohol was also reported missing.

Pc Rick Whalley, of Burnley Police, issued an appeal for witnesses.

He said: “Our investigat­ion into the burglary is ongoing and we’d appeal to anyone with informatio­n to please come forward.”
