Ross is named Sharks skip­per

RUGBY UNION: Jono Ross has been named as Sale Sharks’ new cap­tain.

The back row for­ward started ev­ery Premier­ship game for the club last sea­son hav­ing joined Sale from Stade Fran­cais.

Ross, who was born in South Africa but is Eng­land qual­i­fied, re­places Will Ad­di­son who has joined Ulster.

“Sale Sharks is a club look­ing to go places and it’s a real priv­i­lege to be cap­tain,” said Ross.

“Noth­ing changes, re­ally. I’ll prob­a­bly have to speak a lit­tle more. The guys will prob­a­bly tell you I say a lot any­way!

“Hope­fully, I can take the club to new heights. It’s an ex­cit­ing time.”

Sale start their Gal­lagher Premier­ship cam­paign against Har­lequins at The Stoop on Septem­ber 1 be­fore host­ing Worces­ter War­riors in their first home game on Septem­ber 9.
