Teen dies af­ter store bal­cony fall

A TEENAGER has died af­ter fall­ing from a bal­cony at John Lewis in Chea­dle.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to the store, just off Wilm­slow Road, at 7.20pm on Thurs­day.

A 19-year-old girl was taken to Sal­ford Royal Hos­pi­tal in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

Po­lice con­firmed yes­ter­day that she had passed away as a re­sult of her in­juries.

Her fam­ily is be­ing sup­ported by spe­cial­ist of­fi­cers.

It’s un­der­stood she fell from the up­per level onto the ground floor from an in­ter­nal bal­cony.

A po­lice spokes­woman said their in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­cluded the in­ci­dent was not sus­pi­cious.

John Lewis con­firmed the store was closed im­me­di­ately in the af­ter­math of the in­ci­dent, al­though it has since re­opened.
