Tram death vic­tim named

A MAN who died fol­low­ing a col­li­sion with a tram in Old­ham last week has been named.

The in­ci­dent close to Sains­bury’s on Union Street took place shortly be­fore 12.20am last Satur­day.

The dead man has now been for­mally named as 42-year-old Marvin Co­ley.

He was taken to hos­pi­tal but died later due to a head in­jury.

His fam­ily are be­ing sup­ported by po­lice of­fi­cers.

Pc Paul Hail­wood, of GMP’s Se­ri­ous Col­li­sion In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Marvin’s fam­ily at this dif­fi­cult time as they face the loss of their loved one. It’s for them that we need to find wit­nesses who can help our in­ves­ti­ga­tion into how this col­li­sion hap­pened, to find the an­swers they de­serve.

“If you were around Sains­bury’s or Union Street early on Satur­day morn­ing, or have in­for­ma­tion that could help our en­quiries, please get in touch.”
