Fury: I won’t be clowning around now

Manchester Evening News - - SPORT - By SHELDAN KEAY

TYSON Fury insists it will be strictly business during his next fight - and that we won’t see a repeat of the clowning antics he displayed during his comeback last month.

The Manchester boxer continues his career revival when he faces Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park in Belfast on August 18.

It will come two months after his fight at the Manchester Arena in June, where he defeated Sefer Seferi, who retired in his corner at the end of the fourth round.

Fury received some criticism for not taking that fight seriously, but he is adamant he will be fully switched on for the showdown against former world title challenger Pianeta.

“We saw the joker in the last camp, we saw the showman, the entertainer. My trainer Ben Davison wants a serious approach this time and that is what he’ll get. It will be all business in Belfast,” said Fury.

“Everything is great, but if he wants me to be serious about this fight then I will be serious. I’m not serious about anything in my whole life, everything is like fun and games - even Wladimir Klitschko. I wasn’t serious, I was doing all dance moves.

“But listen, if Ben wants serious, Ben will get serious. I’ll go in there and do my job and that’s it. I won’t even smile once!”

Promoter Frank Warren agrees that Fury needs to be more focused this time, and he is confident the former world heavyweight champion will be back to his best when he steps into the ring with Pianeta.

“I don’t believe we will have him playing up to the crowd on this occasion because he will need to be more business-like in a riskier fight and also because of his desire to start putting a marker down once again in the heavyweight division,” said Warren.

“Tyson informs me he has shifted a bit more weight since his first return and this fight is about continuing to nudge him towards optimum fitness, which is where he needs to be before he is really stepped up.

“That being said, people will always talk about giving him a proper step up, but I don’t think any of them will really represent a formidable obstacle once Tyson is fully on his game.”
