Lussick to make devils debut in Hull Kr clash

- RUGBY LEAGUE By TOM BRAMWELL

SALFORD hooker Joey Lussick is in line to make his debut in tonight’s trip to Hull KR, the first of the Red Devils’ Super 8 Qualifiers fixtures.

The 22-year-old made one NLR appearance for Manly Sea Eagles, scoring a try, before making the move to join former team-mate Jackson Hastings at the AJ Bell Stadium.

With Logan Tomkins and Kriss Brining injured, Lussick is expected to share the dummy-half responsibilities with Josh Wood.

Hastings impressed against Leeds Rhinos on debut last time out, scoring a try and proving highly influential despite leaving the field after just 20 minutes with hamstring tightness.

The halfback has been passed fit to again line up alongside Rob Lui.

The Salford squad is further boosted by the return of fan-favourite forward Craig Kopczak and centre Kris Welham, who has missed the last five weeks after an operation on a finger injury, but is set to feature against his former club. Gavin Bennion and Levy Nzoungou are the two men to drop out of the 19-man squad from the Rhinos clash, while new signing Jansin Turgut has not been selected and Jack Littlejohn, Tomkins, Brining, George Griffin and Luke Burgess all remain sidelined.

The fixture – a repeat of the infamous Million Pound Game of 2016 – will see the Red Devils take on some familiar faces, with ex-director of rugby Tim Sheens’ side containing both Todd Carney and former Salford captain Tommy Lee.

Salford: Welham, Sa’u, Evalds, Lui, Kopczak, Jones, Flanagan, Tasi, Lannon, McCarthy, Nakubuwai, Wood, Olpherts, Mossop, Bibby, Murray, Chamberlain, Hastings, Lussick.
