Youth theatre pays tribute to First World War with musical

-

A YOUTH theatre is bringing to life tales of love and loss from the First World War for a poignant musical production marking 100 years since the end of the conflict.

Trench – The Musical is being performed by the North West Theatre Arts Company, a professional theatre company for aspiring young actors.

It is now being performed at its theatre in Moston every night until Sunday, to coincide with Remembrance events and the centenary of the ending of the First World War.

The story has been written by Bolton director Prab Singh, while Ackley Bridge star Gurjeet Singh is assistant director.

Prab, 39, said: “This is an haunting and heartbreaking story. It looks at the relationships between family and friends, the love that is shared and lost, and the hopes and dreams of a life that tragically might not be.

“There are so many books on the First World War concerning facts and figures from history but far fewer on relationships and first-hand accounts.

“The kids have loved learning about it and really put their hearts and souls into the performance, it really is a fantastic show.

“There hasn’t been a rehearsal where somebody hasn’t cried – I think we may have to give tissues out during half-time. It’s a lovely way to commemorate 100 years since the First World War.”
