Weather warning with heavy rain forecast for rest of week

Manchester Evening News - - NEWS -

IT is going to be a weekend washout in Greater Manchester with heavy rain showers and blustery winds expected to continue until Sunday.

Anybody planning to attend a Remembrance Sunday event or the Manchester Derby is advised to take a raincoat or umbrella as it is going to be a wet one.

Forecasters are warning the heavy rain could even cause delays to drivers and public transport.

Due to leaves falling and blocking drains at this time of year, there could also be surface flooding on the roads.

The miserable conditions continue today, with Greater Manchester set to be soaked late in the afternoon and into the evening.

Alongside the heavy rain showers there will be strong blustery winds, with gusts reaching speeds of 40-45mph.

They could reach gale force speeds in some areas.

By Saturday and Sunday the weather will still be unsettled, but forecasters have said it will brighten up a bit.

Sunny spells are likely throughout both days. However, there will also be some scattered blustery showers and breezy conditions interrupting the sunny periods.

Despite the rain and wind, temperatures will remain mild.

On Friday, there will be highs of around 12C, while on Saturday and Sunday temperatures will climb to around 13C.

Weather experts have said the temperatures are above average for this time of year, but it will feel cooler due to the breeze.
