Model Melissa returning to Corrie
CORONATION Street is set to be rocked by the return of Imogen Pascoe this Christmas.
Feisty Imogen, played by Melissa Johns, struts back to Weatherfield as part of a storyline involving the newly engaged Kate Connor and Rana Nazir.
Melissa reprises her role as Imogen as the relationship hits a rocky patch, with Kate hellbent on becoming a mum while Rana is unsure.
Bistro boss Robert Preston is reportedly lined up as a sperm donor for the couple after struggling with his fiancee Michelle Connor’s reluctance to have another child.
Imogen previously rankled Rana when she dated Kate, played by Faye Brookes, and Rana was secretly harbouring a crush on her best friend which turned to love. She was last seen on our screens last October and is set to return to the show in December.
New photos showed Imogen’s character heading out for Christmas drinks in scenes filmed at Velvet bar in Canal Street, looking stylish in a ‘Glam’ slogan T-shirt and a snazzy electric blue biker jacket, leather-look trousers and ankle boots.
In May, Melissa posed for an empowering photoshoot to challenge perceptions of disability and to show people with disabilities are beautiful and sexy and should be used in fashion campaigns.
The Manchester model and actress, who was born with one arm, teamed up for the shoot with Models Of Diversity, the campaign for more diversity in modelling. She says she used to despise her body after a cutting comment that stuck with her for years, but now loves her disability.
She was able to change how she felt about her body after seeing Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road.
She said previously: “Seeing this strong, sexy, badass woman with one arm on the screen made me feel so unbelievably empowered that as we left the cinema, for the first time in so long I took my cardigan off, I gestured with both of my arms, I didn’t hide away.
“I was showing off my body. Because I knew that the majority of people in that cinema had looked at Charlize Theron’s character and had seen what I saw.”
Earlier this year disability campaigner Melissa shared an inspirational message after having private photos of intimate moments between herself and her partner leaked online by a hacker.
She hit back on social media by saying: “It will take a lot more than a few leaked photos to stop me fighting for equality and the mainstream representation of women of all different shapes and sizes.”
Melissa previously starred in BBC dramas The Interceptor, Silk and Casualty.
