Police CCTV appeal after shop robbery
POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a robber attacked a newsagent while pretending to be a customer.
A man approached the counter of the McColl’s store on Wigan Road, in Ashton-inMakerfield, and behaved like a customer. However, when the cashier opened the till to serve him the man assaulted the staff member by shoving him backwards. The robber grabbed money from the till before fleeing from the shop.
CCTV footage shows the man entering the store several times the same evening before the assault and robbery took place at 10.10pm on Monday, October 29.
Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation and have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
Det Con Peter Jackson said: “We believe the offender frequented the shop several times before committing this robbery, so there’s a good chance several people saw him. We have also released the image of a man we believe may have important information on this crime. Do you recognise the man in the photo?
