UNITED have suffered an injury scare ahead of tomorrow’s derby.
Paul Pogba is battling to be fit after missing first-team training yesterday. It is understood the World Cup winner suffered a RAHEEM Sterling has spoken of his delight after being handed a derby boost by signing a new deal with City.
The Blues ace has penned a three-year contract extension which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2023.
Sterling has developed himself into a pivotal figure for City under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, and has been directly involved in 40 Premier League goals since the start of last season.
The 23-year-old has continued his fine form this season and will be one of City’s main weapons in ‘little injury’ during the Reds’ 2-1 win over Juventus on Wednesday night. Pogba worked on his own indoors at the club’s Carrington training ground, raising concerns he could be a doubt for the match against City.
They could, however, be tomorrow’s derby at the Etihad.
“I’m delighted to sign,” Sterling said. “My development here has been incredible.
“I felt from the minute I got here it was the right choice for me. It’s really paid off for me and I’m really grateful.
“Every season you come in you want to do better than your previous season. You want to try and develop and get better.
“With the facilities we’ve got here there’s no reason not to.
“With the coaching staff and the players we have in this team it’s the perfect environment to develop and
better.” boosted by the return of Romelu Lukaku from injury, with the Belgian striker undergoing a late fitness test ahead of the game.
Pogba played a pivotal role for United last season when they fought from behind to win 3-2 at the Etihad.
