Anger as ‘irresponsible’ Covid lies pushed through letterboxes
A COUNCILLOR has blasted ‘irresponsible’ leaflets posted out to homes about the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
Urging the public to follow Government advice, Carmine Grimshaw said the leaflets championed conspiracy theories and scaremongering.
“What if it’s all an illusion,” the leaflets proclaim of Covid-19.
Coun Grimshaw, who represents Miles Platting and Newton
Heath for Labour on Manchester city council, posted images of the leaflets on Twitter.
He said he was contacted by a resident who said the leaflets were being posted through letterboxes in the Miles Platting area.
Coun Grimshaw said: “It is misinformation and it’s dangerous.
“People are always going to have their own ideas, but this is totally irresponsible.
“It is misleading and it’s putting people’s lives at risk.
“If these people had to face a family who have lost a loved one, I am sure they would think differently.
“I would ask people all over Greater Manchester and throughout the country to get their vaccines and to stay safe.”
