Started 23rd Finished 17th Smith has come away from his first weekend as a KTM racer pleased with the development work done by the team on their debut weekend, as they continue to improve the RC16. “This was the opening night for a new project and the lap times and the gap to the front guys were better than expected. Just making a bike that can get to the finish isn’t easy, and in those conditions just to get to the end made me super-pleased. We had a few technical problems in the final few laps that meant I couldn’t fight with Pol, but we did the best we could.”
