CCM unveil Foggy special
Foggy teams up with CCM for new special-edition Spitfire
‘It’s what I want from a bike these days’
Four-time WSB champ Carl Fogarty has joined forces with CCM to create this special Foggy Edition of the Spitfire roadster – of which just 300 examples will be built. Based on the Bolton firm’s tubular framed, 600cc single, the special edition is inspired by the Blackburn rider’s illustrious WSB career and was co-designed by the great man himself. “CCM’s director, Austin Clews, has been one of my best mates for the last 20 years,” Foggy told MCN. “I’ve been involved with them before and I’m excited to be working with them again. They’ve got a great product with the Spitfire and I’ll be a lot more hands on than previous things I’ve done over the last few years.” With its carbon fibre bodywork and lashings of billet aluminium it weighs just 142kg while a remap boosts power by 10bhp. Red paint, gold frame and wheels, together with Michelin, Agip and ‘No. 1’ stickers are all a nod to the bike that made Foggy’s name. It also has HEL monobloc brake calipers (with ‘Foggy eyes’ logo), 17in forged aluminium wheels and fully-adjustable Marzocchi forks and K-Tech shock. Two handlebar styles are available: Cafe Racer, or flat track.
“I wanted the bike to be fun and comfortable both on country roads and around town,” Foggy continued. “That’s what I want from a bike these days and hopefully people will love it. It’s a striking little bike.”
Foggy tested a pre-production version last week and MCN got his first impressions. “It’s just as I thought it would be: light, manoeuvrable, roomy. It sounds good, too. The brakes are brilliant, it turns in well and holds a line really nicely.”
