Yob, 13, attacked PCs after Floyd protests
A BOY of 13 who blamed Black Lives Matter protests for kicking two police officers in an alleged group attack has been handed a referral order.
The youth ‘acted impulsively’ after seeing coverage of events over the killing of George Floyd.
A court heard his attack on PCs Andrew Macpherson and Reem Ali in Hackney, east London, on June 10 received ‘nationwide media coverage’ after being filmed and shared online.
Stephen McCabe, defending, said the boy was ‘watching the events in America and I think this is what flashed through his mind’.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given a ninemonth referral order at Stratford youth court after earlier pleading guilty to two charges of assault on an emergency worker.
