Union warns Eurostar cuts could be ‘dire’ for work­ers

UNION bosses have urged the gov­ern­ment to step in af­ter Eurostar warned them of cuts that will hit jobs and ser­vices.

The RMT said the coro­n­avirus-hit rail com­pany was look­ing to re­duce costs by 20 per cent, which would have ‘dire con­se­quences’ long term. Union boss Mick Lynch added that the Eurostar an­nounce­ment, and a sim­i­lar one by ferry com­pa­nies will ‘have par­tic­u­larly se­ri­ous im­pli­ca­tions for the econ­omy of Kent’.
