Many years ago, the X86 pro­ces­sor ar­chi­tec­ture was cre­ated, and some­how it’s still go­ing. There have been at­tempts to re­place it, but none have suc­ceeded. Now, though, the rise of mo­bile com­put­ing might ac­tu­ally mean that X86 is on its way out – and that spells trou­ble for In­tel and Mi­crosoft. Mark Pick­a­vance ex­plains
