Scot­tish MP says com­pany should be “ashamed”

‘Tis the sea­son to be… ac­cused of hav­ing “in­tol­er­a­ble work­ing con­di­tions”. Erm, fa la la la la, la la la la. Yes, there may not be too much in the shape of Christ­mas cheer sur­round­ing the Ama­zon ful­fil­ment cen­tre in Dun­fermline should the ac­cu­sa­tions made by a Scot­tish news­pa­per prove to be cor­rect. Wil­lie Ren­nie, the Scot­land Lib­eral Demo­crat leader, has re­acted to the story by say­ing that Ama­zon should be “ashamed” that ware­house workers chose to camp out­side in the win­ter rather than face the cost of the com­mute to their homes.

The story in the case was printed by the Courier news­pa­per, which pub­lished pho­to­graphs of tents near the ware­house and wrote that Ama­zon workers were poorly paid and harshly treated. QUICK BITS...

A sep­a­rate in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the Sun­day Times has also re­ported that workers were pe­nalised for tak­ing any time off for ill­ness or for mak­ing too many er­rors when pack­ing or­ders. All pretty damn­ing stuff, frankly.
