Junction changes

Middlesbrough Herald & Post - - HERALD & POST -

DEMANDS to tackle a dangerous Thornaby junction have finally been answered.

An investigation saw 10 vehicles making illegal left or right turns at the junction of Allensway and Tedder Avenue in just 20 minutes.

But now, work is under way by Stockton Council to widen the junction and allow both left and right turns in and out of Allensway.

The changes are linked to the access to a new Aldi store, which is being built in the area, and an extension of the adult learning centre car park.

Although no accidents resulting in injury have been recorded in the last five years, the council’s cabinet member for regeneration and transport Nigel Cooke said local people would welcome the changes.

Work at the site is expected to be completed by the end of April.
