FAMILIES feasted on locally-grown food at the Middlesbrough Town Meal.

The annual event fed thousands of hungry visitors for its tenth year with a variety of fresh food in Centre Square.

Starting at midday on Saturday, the centrepiece of the occasion was a hot meal cooked by catering students from Trinity School. This year’s menu included leek and potato soup, pasta dishes and the Middlesbrough town crumble.

And it wasn’t just about great food – there was also a host of family activities with entertainment including pony riding, a produce contest, chef demonstrations and vintage bus rides.

The Town Meal is a celebration of the growing projects that have run throughout the year, with community groups and families reaping the rewards of growing their own fruit and vegetables.
