IF donning a frightening costume and scaring the living daylights out of people sounds right up your street, you could be part of this year’s Scream Factory.

The annual attraction at Kirklevington Museum is to host open auditions, otherwise known as Boo Camp, to find 90 actors for this year’s screamfest.

There are also 25 staff vacancies up for grabs, such as car park attendants, and ticketing and event staff.

Stephen Tate, managing director of Imaginative Productions, the events company behind Scream Factory, said: “Last year we had a record turn-out for our open auditions and we have even more roles available this year so we’re hoping for the same.

“We’re now in our sixth year and some of our actors have been returning since day one to work with us again and again. We even have actors who come to work with us each year from as far as the Netherlands.”

So if you fancy being one of them, you can head to the open auditions on Saturday, September 23, at 10am. They take place at Imaginative Productions at Belasis Business Centre on Coxwold Way, Billingham. There’s no need to register and no experience is necessary, but you must be 18 or over.

Scream Factory, which recently won the ‘Best use of SFX/Animatronics as a set piece’ award at ScarCON, is a familyrun business and was set up by the Tate family as a way to diversify their Redcarbased flood restoration business.

Described as a themed attraction designed to “frighten and make you jump”, the Halloween experience takes place in a hand-built village that incorporates special effects and face-to-face interaction with scare actors.

The tour is so nerve-wracking that anyone with a nervous disposition, or pregnant women, are advised not to go along.

This year, as usual, there will be two tours to choose from – The Extreme Tour, dubbed an “evening of entertainment to DIE for”, and the Twilight Tour, for younger visitors.

There will also be The Isolated Tour, which is new for this year and will see those brave enough walk around the attraction by themselves.
