Akrotiri is sub­ject of so­ci­ety talk

THE sub­ject of tonight’s Mid­dle­ton Ar­chae­o­log­i­cal So­ci­ety talk is Akrotiri - Pom­peii of the Aegean

The so­ci­ety will wel­come Dr Gina Mus­kett, the Liver­pool Univer­sity Clas­si­cal his­tory ex­pert.

The talk is en­ti­tled ‘Akrotiri - Pom­peii of the Aegean’. Gina vis­its Greece every year to up­date her­self on its ar­chae­ol­ogy.

Vis­i­tors can ex­pect some of the most up-to-date ideas on the sub­ject.

The talk will be held at 7.30am tonight, Thurs­day, May 25, at the Olde Boar’s Head.

En­trance to the talk is £1 for so­ci­ety mem­bers and £3 for mem­bers of the pub­lic.

The sub­se­quent meet­ing will be held on Thurs­day, June 29, at 7.30pm and is en­ti­tled ‘The view from the Finds Hut.’ It will of­fer a closer look at Medieval pot­tery.

It will be pre­sented by Kerry Bee­ston, an in­de­pen­dent mu­se­ums and in­sti­tu­tions pro­fes­sional. It will be held in con­junc­tion with Found in Mid­dle­ton, a dis­play of local arche­o­log­i­cal finds col­lected by the so­ci­ety since 2011.
