Young winners are in the frame for success
THE eight winners of the Middleton Shopping Centre Modelsearch competition have been chosen.
Judges have chosen two winners in each of four age categories - one of whom will be chosen as the overall winner later this year.
The group, who are aged from five to 20, will be featured in the centre’s advertising campaigns and on its social media sites.
They are set to take part in a professional photo shoot in the autumn and will each receive a portfolio of photos.
From here, one final winner will be chosen from among the eight to receive a London studio shoot next year, where they will be styled and photographed by some top industry professionals.
The event, organised in association with the Middleton Guardian, began with two scouting days in May.
More than 280 people entered the competition and 55 were invited to the centre earlier this month to attend castings with a panel of judges made up of Lynette Howgate, Middleton Shopping Centre manager, Michael Knowles of Modelsearch and photographer Vincent Abbey.
Lynette Howgate said: “We would like to thank everyone who came down to the Centre to take part in our Modelsearch competition.
“At the castings we were truly spoilt for choice but it was not just the great looks that impressed us.
“Without exception, every model in every age category was charming, polite and had so many extra talents, skills and interests.
“It was a real privilege to meet so many delight- ful people and we are so sorry we could not choose everyone.”
THE winners, chosen in age categories of four to six, seven to ten, 11 to 15 and 16 and over are: Catherine Higginbottom, 6; Riley Welsby-Dickson, 5; Gabriella Giblin, 7; Zac Kunyo, 7; Shanua Bridgwater, 15; Finnley Collyer, 14; Deniz Cakirgoz, 20 and Caleb Cloran, also 20.
