Little Oscar moved to action by charity advertisement
A SCHOOLBOY walked from Middleton to Manchester city centre after being inspired to support a charity.
Oscar Ellis, 8, was so upset when he saw a Unicef advert about a nine-year-old girl being forced into marriage, that he decided to do something to help.
The St Peter’s RC School pupil, from Alkrington, created a bucket list of things he wanted to do during the school summer holidays, which included doing a charity walk.
He did the walk on August 12 with his mum Poppy, dad Lee , his grandmas Carol and Julie, uncles Joe, Isaac and Sam, pregnant aunt Sarah and his cousins Ella, age 11 Luca, five, and Delilah, three.
Oscar designed posters to attach to everyone’s T-shirts and has raised more than double his initial target of £100, with more donations still to come in.
Carol said: “We are all so proud of him as you can imagine.”
