LYCHNIS flos-cuculi ‘Jenny’
Lychnis, or ragged robin, is one of my favourite native wildflowers. You’ll spot its delicate “ragged” pink blossoms in damp meadows in the countryside.
Sadly it is on the decline due to the draining of marshes and bogs, but you can enjoy this cultivated version in your borders.
Jenny has a fuller double flower but still retains the delicate attributes of its wild relative.
Grow in sun or partial shade but make sure it doesn’t dry out in the summer. And, as a bonus, butterflies love this plant too.
