Historic link to away kit

Middleton Guardian - - LEISURE -

ROCHDALE Hornets will play away from home in cerise and grey next season with style one in the supporter poll picking up 49 per cent of the votes.

Style two (navy marl and tangerine) came in second place with 30 percent while style three (grey and lime) came up the rear with just 21 per cent of the votes.

The outcome of the poll means Hornets will sport cerise and grey again having first worn the colours upon forming in 1871.

The historical link allows for an innovative and modern design based on traditional links that takes the club back to its roots it approaches its 147th year.

Hornets director Luke Harrison said: “The supporters have spoken and we’ll wear the cerise and grey next season. Just short of 300 people logged on and voted so thanks to everyone for making it such a competitive poll. It certainly got people talking and there was loads of debate on social media which is what you want.

“Those who voted, voted for a reason. They obviously like the kit so I would urge them to order it. Orders will arrive in time for Christmas and will make great gifts as well as helping the club prepare as best we can for 2018.”

The jersey is priced at £45 for adults and £35 for kids will be available to pre order along with shorts and socks from Monday this week at the Rochdale Rugby Shack by calling in between 10am-4pm Monday to Friday or calling the office on 01706 648 004 with payments being taken over the phone.
