Ex­penses fid­dle MP in court

A FOR­MER Labour MP who claimed for dry rot treat­ment on a home 100 miles from her con­stituency – as well as claim­ing for prop­er­ties in Lon­don and Lu­ton – will be charged with fid­dling her ex­penses by more than £60,000.

Mar­garet Mo­ran, (above) one of the last politi­cians in­ves­ti­gated over the scan­dal, will ap­pear be­fore mag­is­trates, fac­ing 21 charges re­lat­ing to her par­lia­men­tary claims.

Crim­i­nal in­ves­ti­ga­tions cen­tre on claims for prop­er­ties in Lon­don, Lu­ton and Southamp­ton over a four-year pe­riod.

Mo­ran, who was MP for Lu­ton South, will ap­pear be­fore City of West­min­ster Mag­is­trates’ Court on Septem­ber 19 after the case had been held up due to her her ill health.
