Hitman shot wrong man
AN innocent man was killed in a ‘roadside execution’ as he sat with his ex-wife in his car, a court heard.
The hitman blasted the wrong man as part of a ‘spate of tit-for-tat shootings’ between rival gangs, the Old Bailey heard.
Michael Ofori, 35, had been sat chatting just after midnight last summer when alleged gunman Nathaniel Valton, 21, mistook him for the intended target.
It is claimed Valton was lying in wait near Catford, south London as the rival target was ‘lured’ to the residential street by other gang members on the pretext of a drug deal.
Valton walked up to Ofori’s car and shot him by mistake before being driven off.
Valton and four others all deny murder. The trial, expected to last six weeks, continues.
