Len­non ‘bombers’ on trial

TWO men charged with con­spir­ing to mur­der Celtic man­ager Neil Len­non will stand trail.

The pair al­legedly sent let­ter bombs to Len­non ( above), for­mer MSP Tr­ish God­man, lawyer Paul McBride QC and the of­fices of Cairde Na He­ri­ann — a friends of Ire­land or­gan­i­sa­tion.

Trevor Muir­head, 43, and Neil McKen­zie, 41, are charged with send­ing de­vices with the in­ten­tion that the con­tents would ig­nite and ex­plode when opened, caus­ing se­vere in­jury and death.

They de­nied the charges at Glas­gow High Court and will stand trial in Novem­ber.

The pair are ac­cused of send­ing Len­non an im­pro­vised bomb at the Celtic FC train­ing cen­tre at Len­nox­town.

The pack­age had a plas­tic bot­tle with tri-ace­tone tri-per­ox­ide with a wire at­tached and a plas­tic bag con­tain­ing a bag of nails and a watch com­po­nent.
