Prem ‘groper’ girl denies compo bid
A WOMAN who accused a Premier League star of groping her in a nightclub has denied allegations she made up the story to win compensation.
Former West Ham defender Manuel Da Costa, 25, was in the club’s VIP area when the woman, now 21, walked past him and he grabbed her crotch and breast, a court heard.
When she refused his advances the Portuguese footballer punched her twice in the face, an offence he has admitted.
In court, the woman, who cannot be named, was accused of “overreacting” and hoping for compensation, but she replied: “No, I did it because if I go out to a nightclub I shouldn’t have someone invading my space.”
Da Costa, ( above) who now plays for Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, denies a sexual assault charge and claims that he had touched the bottom and shoulder of the young woman to get her attention as she passed him in the club.
The trial, at Snaresbrook Crown Court, continues.
