Big Mac and fines, please
DRIVERS using a McDonalds restaurant found a burger and fries costing them up to £100, thanks to an over-zealous private parking firm.
The company, tasked with making sure diners don’t overstay, issued fines after monitoring CCTV cameras at the diner.
But trading standards officers received a flood of complaints when it emerged cutomers were being penalised for using the drive-thru twice in one day, and parking for 24 hours when they’d actually visited on two separate days.
A McDonalds spokesman for the fast food outlet on South Shore, Blackpool, said: “The restrictions were put in place because people left their cars for several hours while they went on shopping trips.
“It’s never our intention for genuine customers to be charged.”
