A TIPSY ice cream lady was caught at the wheel of her van while three times over the limit.

Anna Iovino, 56, was pulled over by police who spotted her talking on a mobile phone while driving.

A court heard they found that Iovino ( right) — who has two previous convictions for driving over the limit, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt either.

She admitted driving a motor vehicle while her alcohol level was above the legal limit when she appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates Court in south west London, but claimed she had been on her way to buy a packet of fags.

Speaking outside court, she said she was only driving a few hundred yards from her home in Mitcham, south London, to the local shop so she could buy cigarettes.

She said: “There were no children nearby.

“I only went a few hundred yards to buy cigarettes from the shop. Of course I’m sorry for doing it. I don’t know why I do it — because I’m stupid.

“I have been an ice cream truck driver for 35 years. Now I need to look for another job.”

Iovino was jailed for four months, suspended for 18 months, banned from driving for 52 months and ordered to complete 240 hours of community service.
