DIY napalm grandad’s bid ‘to kill’ children
A GRANDAD found mixing napalm in his kitchen told police he was “making a bomb” to kill children after they threw eggs at his home, a court heard.
Nicholas Smith, 53, was grating soap into a pan of lighter fluid after searching online for instructions on making explosives.
When cops asked what he was doing, he allegedly said: “What does it f*cking look like? I’m making a bomb.”
The former TA volunteer posted on Facebook he wanted revenge on children who had “declared war” on him.
Teesside Crown Court heard Smith’s computer had accessed a web page entitled “How to make a bomb, 22 ways to kill.”
He told arresting officers in May: “I just wanted to kill them — I’d had enough.”
Forensic scientist Lorna Phillip said the mixture could be described as napalm.
Smith, of Horden, Co Durham, denies two explosive substances charges.
The trial continues.
