Car-jacker stabs Merc man to death
A CRAZED car-jacker knifed a motorist to death in front of his terrified friend before escaping in the vehicle.
Harjinder Singh Bhurji, 32, was fatally stabbed in in the early hours of yesterday morning as he tried to fight off a masked man in Ilford, east London.
The killer — described by police as black, 6ft 2in and of slim build — drove off in Mr Bhurji’s black Mercedes CLK coupe, leaving him bleeding to death.
The car was later found in Chingford, three miles away from where Mr Bhurji was killed.
DCI Phil Rickells said: “The suspect appears to have been purely motivated by stealing the car. The victim did not know the suspect or why he might want his car.
“It is believed that the two friends had been sitting talking in Mr Bhurji’s car when the suspect appeared, opened the passenger door and dragged the female from the car.
“The suspect then went to the driver’s door and demanded the keys.
“Mr Bhurji tried to hide them under his seat but the suspect threatened to harm his friend if he did not hand them over.
“Before he had time to get them, he was stabbed. Despite his injuries, the victim managed to hand them to the suspect who then drove off.”
