RE teacher faces jail for X-rated phone messages
AN RE teacher has admitted sending sex texts to a 14-year-old boy pupil.
Kathryn Roach could now face jail after confessing to sending him the explicit messages.
The 24-year-old left ‘no doubt of what she would like to do or what she wanted him to do to her’, Bolton Crown Court heard.
Roach, who taught religious education at a high school in Bolton, exchanged a number of text messages with the pupil between March and April last year.
The court heard that the boy and Roach exchanged a series of messages that were ‘sexual in their content’.
Newly-qualified Roach, from Croxteth, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to a single charge of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity by a person in a position of trust.
Judge Stephen Everett warned that all sentencing options would be considered at the hearing next month.
He said: “ The defendant sent him a substantial number of texts which, at least in part, became more sexual in their nature.
“She is a teacher in a position of trust, being in contact in this way with a pupil.”
Bolton council confirmed Roach was suspended by the school when the allegations against her first emerged. She’s since been fired.
She now faces a possible jail sentence and must sign the sex offenders’ register.
Roach was released on unconditional bail and will be sentenced on October 31.
