ENGLAND TRIO DEALS CRICKET RUGBY LEAGUE
SAM TOMKINS has been named Super League player of the year by the Rugby League Writers’ Association.
The 22-year-old Wigan and England full-back, who finished the regular season as leading tryscorer on 26, beat Castleford stand-off Rangi Chase into second spot.
Tomkins said: “I am very honoured. It’s always nice to
players Tim Bresnan, Chris Tremlett and Eoin Morgan (right) have been handed 12month central contracts.
The trio are part of a 13-man squad given deals until September 2012.
National selector Geoff Miller said: “The central contracts are designed to reward players who pick up awards, although it is not something you think about all year.
“It’s a team sport and there’s another 16 players in every game doing their bit to make my job a little bit easier. A lot of it is down to the lads.” perform well consistently for England.
