Liam gets his head back in right place
BIRMINGHAM v BRAGA Thursday, 8pm
CHRIS HUGHTON insists Liam Ridgewell will not be throwing any tantrums after his Premier League escape route was blocked.
Birmingham’s versatile 27-year-old slapped in a transfer request in the final hours of the window in a bid to push through a move to Newcastle.
But Blues refused to let him join the St Andrew’s fire sale and boss Hughton says the matter is now closed.
He said: “I understand Liam wanting to play in the Premier League, but he’s got his head around it now.
“But what he also very much understood was that if it wasn’t going to be a possibility, he was very happy to be here.
“He’s a whole-hearted player, he’s one of a few who remained at the club and I think the fans will be happy with that.”
