STUDENT STALKED FOR THREE YEARS. YEARS. . . BY . BY HER OWN BOYFRIEND
Oddball impersonated girlfriend by hacking into her email account
A UNIVERSITY student was harassed for years by a mystery online stalker — who turned out to be her own BOYFRIEND.
Sick Shane Webber sent sexually explicit photos and videos to girlfriend Ruth Jeffery, and in a shocking betrayal of trust, emailed INTIMATE pictures of her to her friends and family.
He also went online pretending to be Ruth, posted naked images of her on adult websites, and contacted men saying she was sexually attracted to them.
One bloke even turned up at her home and had to be turned away.
Unemployed Webber, who was Ruth’s boyfriend for the whole time she was being harassed, knew it was making her ill — she’d been prescribed antidepressants and had stopped eating — but the 22-year-old continued his evil campaign.
He was finally caught in June this year when an email he sent to Ruth’s entire contact list — which included her father — containing explicit images of her was traced back to his computer.
Webber, of Clifton, Notts, pleaded guilty to causing harassment, alarm or distress at Magistrates’ Court in Southampton and will be sentenced next month. Ruth, also 22, said she hopes he is jailed.
She added: “I want him to be put in prison because he has wrecked the past three-and-ahalf years of my life.
“I’ve known him for 10 years, so in a way it feels like the past ten years have been wasted.”
The abuse affected Ruth, of West Bridgford, so badly that she had to retake computer science exams in her course at Loughborough University.
She said: “It made me feel sick.”
