A MAN was robbed as he lay dying in a lift at his sheltered flats, police believe.
The 57-year-old had collapsed and died of natural causes but it’s thought he was a victim of theft before his body was found.
It is understood the man, who is believed to have recently moved into the flats in Newtown, Chester, was in the lift for several hours before his body was found.
A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: “Enquiries indicated that the man was victim of theft while he lay collapsed in the elevator.”
A 41-year-old man has been arrested and has been charged with theft. He will appear before magistrates on October 7.
