Dy­ing man is robbed in lift

A MAN was robbed as he lay dy­ing in a lift at his shel­tered flats, po­lice be­lieve.

The 57-year-old had col­lapsed and died of nat­u­ral causes but it’s thought he was a vic­tim of theft be­fore his body was found.

It is un­der­stood the man, who is be­lieved to have re­cently moved into the flats in New­town, Ch­ester, was in the lift for sev­eral hours be­fore his body was found.

A spokes­woman for Cheshire Po­lice said: “En­quiries in­di­cated that the man was vic­tim of theft while he lay col­lapsed in the el­e­va­tor.”

A 41-year-old man has been ar­rested and has been charged with theft. He will ap­pear be­fore mag­is­trates on Oc­to­ber 7.
