Literacy site spels disaster!

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

A JOBS website set up to help the unemployed improve their basic literacy is littered with SPELLING mistakes!

Simple words like “working”, “effective” and “opportunities” are misspelt on The Learning Zone website.

Instead of “equal opportunities” the site offers candidates “equal opportunies” and boasts that the “course foucses on the steps you need to take to prepare for an interview”.

On a page dedicated to helping jobseekers brush up their writing skills and CV it says: “This course uses a variet of media and different resourses”.

One page alone contains four clangers, including “ workinng” and “ effecive”.

Avanta Ltd, who run The Learning Zone website, won a multimillion pound contract to deliver the state’s new Work Programme in the North East region earlier this year.

Regional director Kaye Rideout said she was “disappointed” that the mistakes on the website had still not been rectified following complaints.
